WHO ARE YA?! WHO ARE YA?! John Phillips

In an attempt to keep you entertained over the 3 weeks when Kitchee aren't playing (yeah, thanks for that R&F and HKFA), we've resurrected our WHO ARE YA?! feature where we get to know some fellow Kitchee fans a bit better and hear about their hopes for the coming season.

Today's entry is from an Australian Supporter, John! John is crazy for football - or soccer as they call it - and regularly takes his holidays to Hong Kong so he can watch Kitchee or even just stock up on Kitchee merchandise. A familiar face to a lot of Kitchee Fans - John's last trip to was documented by Kitchee here . We hear from the Soccer Roo below...

1. Why do you support Kitchee?

I like Kitchee because as a club they have a strong professional work ethic both on and off the pitch. Giving fans a close personal interaction with the players and giving back to the local community with grass roots football development. 

  2. When was your first Kitchee game?

My first Kitchee game was on the 22/05/16 while on holiday in Hong Kong. The match was the 15/16 Season playoff against Hong Kong Pegasus FC at Mong Kok Stadium. Kitchee won the match 4:1!

3. Who is your favourite Kitchee player (ever)? 

My favourite player is fellow Australian Jarred Lum. It's always exciting seeing your fellow countrymen doing so well abroad. But I'm a strong believer in supporting the team as a whole. All the players I have come in contact and spoken with have been super friendly and professional. 

4. What is your most memorable moment/day as a Kitchee fan? 

That's an easy one. Getting flown over to HK from Australia for my birthday to get a personal tour of the Jockey Club Kitchee Centre, watch a training session, meet and greet with the players. Best birthday present ever. 

5. What Was your worst day as a Kitchee fan? 

Final playoff for ACL qualification against Ulsan Hyundai. Kitchee going down on penalties. Can't fault the boys though. They gave it all they had. That's all a fan can ask. 

6. Who do you hate more - SCAA or Eastern? Why? 

Hate is a strong word. If I had to pick one to dislike it would have to be Eastern. South China VS Kitchee has always been city's Derby game. Have to give South China credit for such a long and successful history. 

7. What Is your favourite Kitchee song? 

All good song but have to say We are the Kitchee boys and The boys in blue.

8. Prediction for this season? Hard to tell only a few games in. But from the recent games Kitchee have started the season in fantastic form. The real test will be when the ACL gets drawn. Managing regular season and ACL can be a tough task but I know the boys will do the best they can to retain the Premier league trophy and do well in the upcoming ACL.
